The Karachi Port handled 299,934 tonnes of cargo comprising 248,482 tonnes of import cargo and 51,452 tonnes of export cargo including 5,591 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 248,482 tonnes comprised of 86,070 tonnes of containerised cargo; 934 tonnes of general cargo; 88,516 tonnes of bulk cargo: 55,401 tonnes of bituminus coal, 25,000 tonnes of coke; 7,500 tonnes of coal; 615 cattle and 72,962 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,452 tonnes comprised of 39,055 tonnes of containerised cargo 3,697 tonnes of general cargo and 8,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,591 containers comprising of 2,146 containers import and 3,445 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 840 of 20's and 576 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 77 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 464 of 20's and 330 of 40's loaded containers while 347 of 20's and 987 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were ten ships namely OOCL Busan, Libra, ETE-N, Nan Lin Wan, Chemroad Sakura, MT Quetta, MT Al-Soor-II, Malhari, Chemroad Quest and Friendly Island carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and talcum powder respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eleven vessels viz. X-Press Makalu, Libra, Crete-1, Athens Bridge, MT Al-Soor-II, JO Pinari, Malhari, Serene Juniper, Osprey-1, Mysora and Grand Choice carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, coal and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Zante, Crete-1, X-Press Makalu and Mysora carrying containers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Phoenix carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were ten vessels viz. Northern Jevelin, Kota Karim, Piraeus, Spottail, Bow Mekka, Azalea, LEO, Ras Ghumays-1, Coronus Leader and Du Juan Song carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, DAP, vehicle and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz. OOCL America, Hyundai Global, Ever Divine and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 140,129 tonnes comprising 87,271 tonnes of import cargo and 52,858 tonnes of export cargo including 6,694 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 87,271 tonnes includes 3,415 tonnes of palm oil; 4,689 tonnes of chemical; 1,593 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,300 tonnes of LPG, 1,946 tonnes of general cargo and 74,328 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 52,858 tonnes includes 52,858 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 6,694 containers comprising of 3,912 containers import and 2,782 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely MV Kirri Billi, MV GSW Future and MT UACC Muharraq carrying canola seeds, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV GSL Tianjin carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, MV Era-S, MV Kong Qeu Song, MV Kirri Billi, MV GSW Future, MT White Purl and MT UACC Muharraq were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo, canola seeds, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine ships namely MV Da Kang, MV Industrial Century, MV Pacific Action, MV Agios Nicolas, MT Gas Amazon, MT Maria-III, MT Norstar Invictus, MT Gao Cheng-2 and MT UACC Muharraq carrying project cargo, soyabean, LPG, crude oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Sindy, CV MSC Mars, MV Agios Nicolas, MV Everrich-6 and MT Norstar Invictus carrying containers, canola seeds, chemical and crude oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were eight ships namely CV X-Press Makalu, CV MSC Sindy, CV MSC Mars, MV Engiadina, MV Great-61, MT Golar Bear, MT Ondo and MT Bahra carrying containers, steel coil, steel, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are three ships namely CV CSAV Tyndall and CV Maersk Columbus and CV Methane Nile Eagle carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
